Village Web Site:

This continues under the able direction of the web master. New articles are added weekly usually on a Thursday. Please continue to send items. In the future we intend to start up a diary so you can see dates that are available for activities village wide. Links to other websites have been added for your convenience. If you don’t have a computer to view the site come down to the computer café on a Thursday morning 10am to 12md. See below for information on the computer café.

Woodland Group:

Objectives:

to thin existing stands of trees to allow light onto woodland floor to encourage shrub and ground layer of woodland as well as giving space to retained trees (2018/19: in consultation with NDDC tree officers identified ca. 60 trees above 10cm DBH to be felled 2018/19 & 2019/2020. Conservation area/ TPO consent granted. Ca. 35-40 of these were felled in 2018/19, with wood either left in situ as deadwood habitat or cut to length as use for firewood by locals) to provide a pre- and post-hibernation (Sep/ Oct & Mar/ Apr) & mating roosts in autumn for bats

Lunch Club:

Recently we were inspected again by the Food Hygiene department of Dorset District Council and we were awarded 5 stars again. More people have kindly volunteered to help this past year cooking and laying up the tables. Thank you very much more help is always welcome. I believe the lunch club is an activity enjoyed by everyone. However, we are still trying to increase attendance. It is not a closed shop so if you are lonely and over 50 and would like some company please come along, 2nd Weds in every month (except for August). Please, prior to attending, phone Jennifer or contact the Post Office who will 2 pass on a message so we know numbers turning up. Transport can be arranged. We already cater for different dietary needs so that is not a problem. All for the very reasonable price of £5. Compulsory village raffle, (please bring a prize) which enables you to have a pre-meal glass of sherry.

Computer Café:

This continues to flourish. Thank you to Richard for all his expert advice at no charge to anyone. We are able to help you set up a devise, loan laptops, and help to sort out other problems. You can also use one of the laptops for your own use during a session. Opening times are 10am to 12md on most Thursdays. Just turn up you don’t need an appointment. The money raised by charging for drinks and cake is used to pay for the rent, telephone and BT expenses for the internet connection. Also, for heating, paper, ink and coffee etc.
